.

This year’s Venice Art Biennale (June 4th – November 27th, 2011) focuses on specific themes related to the perception and transcription of light, light as one of the strongest medium artists choose for their research. General curator Ms. Bice Curiger suggested the title ILLUMInations, to stimulate artists from all over the world to reflect on their identities as well as on their relation with the viewer.

Bice Curiger: “ILLUMInations emphasizes the intuitive insight and the illumination of thought that is fostered by an encounter with art and its ability to sharpen the tools of perception. ILLUMInations will focus on the light of the illuminating experience, on the epiphanies that come with intercommunicative, intellectual comprehension.

The curator of the Italian pavilion has chosen to interpret Curiger’s challenge showing the Italian pavilion in each world’s capital city, in conjunction with the Venice Biennale, under the name of ITALIAN PAVILION IN THE WORLD.

After a public selection the Italian Architect Antonio Pio Saracino has been selected to present his design work.
